Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (DFS)
The German air navigation service provider Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (DFS) is equipped with a system for complete radio sites with VHF and UHF radios, including racks, filters, circulators, multicouplers and all ancillary equipment. The project includes system integration, installation, training, services and repair.
DFS is the German ANSP, headquartered near Frankfurt in Germany. DFS has been a key Rohde & Schwarz customer for many years and has already deployed many radios of previous generations.
DFS is renewing their complete country-wide radio network in Germany. This includes replacing all existing radios with the R&S®Series4200 to comply with the EU directive, which requires all radios to be capable of 8.33 kHz channel spacing. All radios will be able to interface seamlessly to the VCS. The radios can be used with analog lines, digital E1 interface or by an ED-137 compliant voice over IP (VoIP) interface, depending on the VCS to be used. On many sites a unique m:n redundancy system is implemented. This m:n redundancy system, which uses the R&S®GV4000 from Rohde & Schwarz, increases channel availability at a lower cost than would have been possible with a 1:1 redundancy system. The new radios will be integrated into DFS’s SNMP-based management system.
The renewal of the radio network comprises more than 100 radios sites with a total of almost 2900 radios. This project will run until 2018.
